MyBrain15 is a scholarship program which aims to increase the number of professionals with a postgraduate certification in Malaysia. This program is a part of the nation's effort under the development banner of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN).

The goal of the program is to create a group of human resources professionals as a catalyst for research, development and innovation. Implementation of this program will lead to the development of the first world talent base that will be one of the initiatives to drive Malaysia into a high income nation.

Under this program, the Government aims to produce 60,000 PhD holders among the people of Malaysia by the year 2023. The programs are implemented through MyBrain15 Programs, namely:

• MyPhD


• MyMaster


• MyPhD Industry


• IPTA Academic Training Scheme (SLAI).

The scholarship is available for all Public and selected Private Universities. Please refer to the list of institution for each respective program.

MyMaster

MyMaster is a program under the MyBrain15 Program, it's aim is to finance students who're pursuing their studies at Masters level. MyMaster's objective is to stimulate and encourage high caliber graduates to continue their studies at a higher level in specific areas which is in line with the national development agenda. The program is designed to build and maintain the human capital and assist in transforming Malaysia to become a high income nation.

MyPhD

MyPhD is one of the MyBrain15 Program which provides funding for students at the doctorate level to achieve the target of 60,000 PhD holders among Malaysians by 2023. The objective of this program is to increase the number of local professional personnels who are knowledgeable and highly skilled based on innovation and creativity that can generate economic growth and local industry.

This program is an incentive given by the Government in its efforts to improve the knowledge and skillset of community members in line with the economic development goals of the country under the New Economic Model (NEM).

MyPhD Industry

MyPhD Industry focuses on professionals and industry practitioners in providing innovation and increasing competitiveness through research-based industry. This program is a government incentive to promote the sharing of knowledge amongst practitioners and academics to produce highly knowledgeable professionals. Successful applicants will be funded studies at doctorate level.

Applicant must meet all the below requirements

MyMaster:

• Must be a Malaysian citizen


• No age limit


• Those who are not working and fixed income; or


• Private sector workers; or


• Lecturer Institution; or


• The staff of government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary); or


• Pensioners government / statutory bodies / public


• Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.

The applicant does not have a Master's degree or equivalent when applying MyMaster. The applicant must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.75 - 4.00 or equivalent; or


• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.50 - 2.74 or equivalent work experience in a related field at least 3 years


• Aged at least 30 years old and get the Certificate of Accreditation of Prior Experiantial Learning (APEL) for admission to the Master's degree program (step 7, the Malaysian Qualifications Framework) from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).


• Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at Masters level or equivalent professional certificate with a degree only.

The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:

• The applicant category of the public who are not working and not on a fixed income can receive allowances graduate research assistant or student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.


• Applicant category private staff and lecturers of Institution can receive student loans from other sponsors or additional funding from their employers, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.


• Applicant category government employees / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / public can receive student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.

Mode of study to be followed by the applicant are as follows:

• The applicant category of the public who do not work and irregular income must be enrolled full-time only.


• Applicant category of private staff, lecturers Institution, government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / universities can study full time or part time.


• The applicant can pursue studies in all areas whether in public or private institutions status of a University and University Campus Abroad.

MyPhD:

• Must be a Malaysian citizen

• Master's degree students who upgraded to a Doctorate by the university Senate.


• Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at the doctorate level or equivalent professional certificate with a Doctorate only.

The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:

• The applicant category of the public who are not working and not on a fixed income can receive allowances graduate research assistant or student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.


• Applicant category private staff and lecturers of Institution can receive student loans from other sponsors or additional funding from their employers, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.


• Applicant category government employees / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / public can receive student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.

• The applicant can pursue studies in all areas whether in public or private institutions status of a University and University Campus Abroad

MyPhD Industri:

• Must be a Malaysian citizen


• No age limit


• Private sector employees who works in the industry; and


• Staff remuneration of statutory bodies isolated as listed.


• Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.


• Civil servants / statutory bodies (except the isolated remuneration as listed) / universities / colleges are eligible to apply.

The applicant does not have a PhD or equivalent when applying MyPhD Industry. Applicants must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:

• Having a Master's degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 3:00 to 4:00, or equivalent work experience in a related field at least 3 years; or


• Master's degree students who upgraded to a Doctorate by the university senate and work experience in a related field at least 3 years.


• Eligible for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started studies at the university. Studies must be at the doctorate level only.


• The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless additional funding from their employers.


• Applicants must be enrolled full-time only.


• The applicant can pursue studies in all areas whether in public or private institutions status of a University and University Campus Abroad. However, priority will be given to students who are pursuing studies in science, technology and engineering.

MyMaster:

For Research

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM 10,000
• Journal assistance allowance: Not more than RM 3,000

For Mixed ( coursework and thesis )

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM 10,000
• Journal assistance allowance: Not more than RM 1,500

Coursework 

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM 10,000
• Journal assistance allowance: None

MyPhD:

Applicants who is not working and does not have a fixed income 

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM24,000
• Living Allowance: RM2,300 per month
• Thesis assistance allowance: Not more than RM3,000

Private Employees

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM24,000
• Living Allowance: None
• Thesis assistance allowance: Not more than RM3,000

IPTS Lecturers

• Tuition Fees: Not more than RM24,000
• Living Allowance: None
