From developing computer systems to designing intricate technological devices, Computer Engineers combine electronic engineering with computer sciences to ensure that computers function the way they do today.
It is not an uncommon phrase that you hear people saying computers are smarter than humans. Good problem-solving skills
When you developed a computer programme, software, hardware or even game, you will need to do multiple tests until it is perfect. The catch is, each time you run a test, you will find new problems sprouting out from everywhere. You will need to be able to diagnose the issues and solve them until the programme is free of errors and flaws.
Patient and determined
You have ran the test for the 1,459th time and the problem is still there. You should not give up and continue troubleshooting until the problem is solved. In this case, you would need to keep calm to get to the root of the problem. After all, that’s all part of the fun and challenges as a Computer Engineer right? If you see the beauty in rectifying these computer glitches, bugs and problems, then you are an ideal person for this job!
Knowledge of programming languages
If you think computers understand your typical ABC then you’re very wrong! Depending on the situation, computers need a certain “programming” language to get them working. Some of the high-level languages include C++, JAVA, COBOL and FORTRAN.
You will need at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
A Computer Engineer typically works 40 hours a week. Depending on your project deadlines, you may require to work overtime and even weekends.
