Language Studies is one of the traditional arts courses which provides you with useful knowledge about different languages such as English, French, Spanish and/or German.
Do you speak more than one language? Not Bahasa Rojak that’s become the norm these days, but the authentic version of it? Do you like learning about how, when and where certain languages came from? Are you intrigued by the influence different languages dictate in bringing people closer together? If you do, then read on because you might want to consider enrolling in language studies.
The English language as one of the six official languages of the United Nations, is the most impor

Students have a number of options in terms of language and literature including other fields such as translation, interpretations, linguistics and other disciplines.
With so many degree options out there, here are some top reasons why you should study Language Studies:
These days, it’s not just about head knowledge or technical skills but employers also want you to have good interpersonal skills. How will you convince your future employers to hire you when you can’t project a professional image and sell yourself? With a head start in advanced linguistic, you will have a high chance of employment.
You’ll learn so much more than just that language. There are a lot of choices for minor and major subjects such as Arts, Politics, International Relations, Economics, Film, History, Sociology and the list goes on.
Learning a foreign language will open doors of opportunity for you to work overseas. For example, Spanish employers would favour you because of your ability to fluently converse in Spanish.

It is not necessary for you to do your postgraduate but doing so would help you advance in your career and open up more job opportunities. You can opt to work straight after degree as well
You may have to study more than one language at any given time, depending on what you chose to do. You may have to eventually leave the country to further your studies in that particular language. You need to be able to adapt, and do so quickly. Like Han from the Fast & Furious movies!
What you will be studying will include the history of the language, and how it’s evolved over time. It’s detailed stuff! You need to be able to absorb all the lessons and lectures you will receive like a sponge.
Do you know more than one language? Maybe you speak quite a few. To make it in this field, you’ll need to be able to communicate with people who may not understand your spoken language at all, initially. As you further your studies, you’ll need to be able to teach others and help them absorb information, just like you did.
