A Port Manager manages all activities relating to ports such as the movement of ships, containers, loading and unloading of cargo and other customs activities. This job requires the responsibility for the smooth transition of cargo and good organisational and management skills to ensure the cargo reaches its destination on time.
Oversee maintenance of terminal, delivery facilities and equipment
Conduct safety, health and environment briefing
Ensure high operating standards
Lead, develop and implement strategic and operational planning
Good organizational and management skills
Knowledge of maritime laws, requirements and safety procedures
Responsibility

The future of a Port Manager will be good the next five years. You may start off as a General Operations Employee and slowly become a Port Operations Manager. With enough experience, skills and knowledge, you could possibly be a Ships’ Agent.
A Bachelor’s degree in logistics, engineering, shipping management or business is required.
A Port Manager would work from Mondays to Fridays at regular work hours at the office but can be on call to attend any emergencies outside of work hours. .
