Automotive Engineering is a branch of Mechanical Engineering that covers land vehicle development by incorporating engineering, production, maintenance and dynamics.
Do you love roaring red Ferraris, loud and large Ducatis, or other vehicles for that matter? Not just how they look, but how they function, what makes them go as fast as they do ? Do you have a desire to innovate the automotive industry, like a member of a Mercedes Formula One team, constantly pushing the envelope to stay ahead of the competition? Finally, do you love numbers, be it in Maths or Physics? Then automotive engineering just might be the course for you. Read on as we fast track you

Automotive Engineers also take into account current world issues such as the rapidly diminishing fuel reserves to invent alternatives like hybrid and electric cars, so do read magazines and websites dedicated to up-to-date information on vehicles!
With so many degree options out there, here are some top reasons why you should study Automotive Engineering:
Automotive companies exist all over the world (like duh). So your skills will be crucial to land you a job anywhere in the world.
A degree in Automotive Engineering allows you to be dynamic and visionary, using conventional and innovative methods to be a good Engineer.
Automotive Engineers are always involved in bringing new products to the market. So this means you’ll get to be the first to see and engineer new vehicles including limited edition sports cars, superbikes and cool hybrid technology.

Important Note: If you opt to study a Diploma in Automotive Engineering and continue your degree at the same institution, you will most likely get a one-year exemption. This means that you can enter degree year 2 after diploma.
It is not necessary for you to do your postgraduate but becoming a professional engineer by registering at the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) will definitely help you advance in your career
Automotive engineering requires, you need to love numbers as much as you do cars. While watching engineers on Formula 1 teams work on the cars is a cool sight to behold, the amount of dedication towards numbers is what allowed them to get to where they are.
Say your close friend’s car breaks down. While you don’t know the exact component that malfunctioned, you know how to fix it , and you proceed to do it well, so much so, the car starts running like new. You need to be ready to get your hands dirty .
Mechanical engineers are, above all else, problem solvers. They use math skills and analytical abilities to spot problems and resolve them. This is important in the development process so you can ensure that the devices you create do what clients need them to do.
You’re capable of speaking in more than 2 languages, perhaps something you picked up from hanging out with your friends of different races. Furthermore, you tend to relay any message, maybe from a teacher to the rest of the class in a clear and easily understood manner.
