COURSE OVERVIEW

The Department of Systems and Networking of CCI offers a high profile Computer Science undergraduate programme which leads to the award of Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems and Networking) (Hons). This programme is designed to prepare students for professional careers by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills in the area of communications and networking, operating systems, mobile and embedded technologies, computer security, artificial intelligence and other related fields which are relevant to the needs of the fourth industrial revolution (IR4.0).


The programme is value-added in order to cater to the latest industry requirements by integrating selective syllabus from CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associates) certification courses within its curriculum. In addition to this, the Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems and Networking) (Hons) programme is also designed to enable students to pursue higher qualifications in system and networking such as to obtain a higher level specialised networking certification as well as Master of IT or Master of Computer Science and Doctor of Philosophy from reputable institutions of higher learning.


120 credit hours of subjects are being taught in nine semesters. This Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems and Networking) (Hons) programme can be completed in 3 years.

Detailed entry requirements

STPM

  • Pass STPM in Science Stream with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in Mathematics and any one of Science or ICT subject
  • Pass STPM with minimum Grade C in any 2 subjects and pass with Grade C in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any one of Science / Technology / Engineering subject in SPM

STAM

  • Pass STAM with a minimum grade in Jayyid in any 2 subjects,  AND
  • Pass STAM with minimum Grade C in any 2 subjects and pass with Grade C in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any one of Science / Technology / Engineering subject in SPM

Foundation

  • Pass Foundation in related field with minimum CGPA 2.00, AND
  • Pass Foundation with minimum Grade C in any 2 subjects and pass with Grade C in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any one of Science / Technology / Engineering subject in SPM

Matriculation

  • Pass Matriculation with minimum CGPA 2.00, AND
  • Pass STPM with minimum Grade C in any 2 subjects and pass with Grade C in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any one of Science / Technology / Engineering subject in SPM

Diploma

  • Pass Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.50 in Diploma of Computing / Diploma in Computer Science / Diploma in Software Engineering / Diploma in Information Technology / Diploma in Information System, OR
  • Pass Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.50 in Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) in Computing fields / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Computing fields / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields, OR
  • Pass Diploma in Science and Technology with a minimum of CGPA 2.75

English Requirements

For Malaysian Students:

Malaysian students may enrol without MUET. However, students are required to complete MUET during duration of study (before graduation). IELTS (5.0 and above) or TOEFL (500 and above) or TOEFL Internet Based Test (42 and above) is also accepted.

  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test
    Achieve Band 1 and above

For International Students:

International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Bachelor students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Bachelor programme.
  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test
    Achieve Band 3.5 and above

  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System
    Achieve 5.0 and above

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
    Achieve 500 (TOEFL) or 42 (TOEFL Internet Based Test) and above

Credit Transfer

  • Students from other institutions may apply for transfer credits. A maximum up to 36 credits can be transferred, subject to eligibility of the applicant. Please do not hesitate to contact the following staff should you have any query pertaining to credit transfer.
