COURSE OVERVIEW

Diploma in Nautical Studies (DNS) aims to provide you the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to serve on merchant navy vessel of more than 500 gross tonnages. This programme also helps to develop students to be a certified watchkeeping officer on unlimited voyage.

 The course will take a total of 3 years, spread over 3 phases. Students who enrol will need to complete all the mandatory phases required by the Director of Marine, under the Malaysian Marine Department.

 Year 1: Academic and Professional Studies in the Academy

 Year 2: Shipboard Training

 Year 3: Professional Studies in the Academy

 Upon successful completion of the training and passing all the qualifying prerequisites, you will be awarded with a Diploma in Nautical Studies and a Certificate of Competency as Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch.

Entry Requirements

•SPM Result with minimum ‘C’ or with strong credits in Bahasa Malaysia,English, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics. •For foreign applicants, school exam certificate equivalent to UK GCE O’Level with strong credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and 2 other technical subjects •Single, Male or Female, not more than 25 years old •Minimum height of 158cm and weight of 48kg for male applicants (BMI:18.5 – 24.9) •Minimum height of 155cm and weight of 42kg for female applicants (BMI:18.5 – 24.9) •Mentally and physically fit •Not colour blind •Perfect vision with no visual aids
