Hello Yasini,
There are still other options after getting your SPM results back. Either:
1. You can retake the subjects you have failed (SPM Ulangan), and in your case, you can resit the exams in June as they have BM and Mathematics re-exams available. However, be sure if you want to do this because it will take half a year of waiting. Usually students will do this if they have a specific pre-university or degree course they wish to enter.
For more information, How to Re-take the SPMs Step-by-Step
2. Pursue diploma: Diploma courses only require 3 credits from SPM. Then after your completion, you can progress to the second year of a relevant degree. This is similar to the study duration of a student who does foundation then a degree.
I hope you find this helpful and good luck!

Hi Crisphine,
To enter Foundation in a university, a G in Maths would render it very difficult for you to enrol. This is because Maths is one of the 5 subjects in SPM that you should score, alongside Bahasa Malaysia, General Science, History, and Pengetahuan Moral. You may refer to this article for more info about the subjects you should score: https://afterschool.my/bm/berita/5-subjek-spm-wajib-skor-aliran-sastera
You can opt for STPM. However, when you undergo STPM, you will have to take Maths as one of your subjects and must be able to score by then, regardless of whether you are planning to take an Arts course or a Science course.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi Mohamad Afiq Fikri,
Perhaps you could provide us with more details. Which stream were you studying in during secondary school? Which branch of mathematics are you most interested in? Once you have provided us with the details, we can help you further.
There are many courses that put an emphasis on mathematics, such as actuarial science, engineering (this is good if you are also interested in science and studied it in secondary school), economics, accounting, statistics, computer science and many more.
Most of these courses are offered at all universities in Malaysia, though some are better than others.
We'd love to help, so do get back to us soon!

Actuarial Science

Hi Cynthia,
There are a number of courses that focus on Mathematics other than Actuarial Science. Some of these include Business and Management courses, Accounting, Statistics, or even a purely Mathematics course.
Many universities in Malaysia offer these courses. You may click on the course names above to check out the requirements of each course.
Psychology
Hi Nurul Liyana,
You would need to get a C in SPM level Math in order to be eligible for a psychology degree. The psychology degree itself does not include any heavy Math elements, minus a tiny bit of statistics.
If you are interested, IUMW and Raffles University Iskandar both offer this course. Just fill in the bar on the right, and one of our counselors will get in touch with you.
Hope this helps!

Hi Tariq,
To be eligible for Foundation in Science, generally you would need at least a B in five (5) subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject as well as credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English. This may differ depending on what pathway you choose to pursue for degree, and what institution is offering the course. I would suggest for you to take up Biology and Chemistry to meet the entry requirements of most universities.
If you're interested, IUMW, AIMST, and MAHSA all offer Foundation in Science. If you are keen on applying, just fill in the bar on the right and one of our counselors will get in touch with you.

Hi Ayuhaili,
The answer to your first questions is yes, you can. Secondly, it would be better for you to upload your original certificates.
All the best!
Computer Science
Hello,
Yes. Entry requirements differ from university to university, but generally you will need to have at least a credit for Additional Mathematics in SPM to be eligible to pursue a degree in Computer Science, regardless of what pre-university qualification you might have.
University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) has a number of computer science courses worth looking at. If you're interested, just fill in the bar on the right and one of our counselors will get in touch with you.
Hope this helps. Wishing you the very best! :)

Hello Shahrul, Unfortunately, you cannot go for engineering as most engineering and science-heavy courses need at least a C in maths. However, if you really want to study engineering, you will have to re-sit for SPM Maths to get a better result for the subject. Unfortunately, the application for re-sitting SPM is closed for the year. You will have to apply for next year’s examination. If you are willing to wait, this will be the best route for you. If you have a change of heart, Afterschool is glad to offer our services in helping you find the best course for you :)
Public University
Hi Nusrah,
With an interest in those subjects, you could opt for a degree in Actuarial Science, Accounting or Mathematics. To get there, your next step after SPM is pre-university as it is a bridge to a degree programme. You should opt for a Foundation in Business / Commerce or Science but since you did not study pure science subjects, your only option is to study Foundation in Business / Commerce. Core subjects you should study are Mathematics, Accounting, Finance and Business Management which enable you to enrol for a degree in Actuarial Science, Accounting or Mathematics. Foundation will take one year and you can proceed to do your degree in the specific field of your choice. We would advise you to opt for either Actuarial Science or Accounting as they are higher in demand. However, do note that Actuarial Science is a very difficult course so be prepared to study hard. If you want to excel in Accounting, it's best to obtain a professional qualification. You can do so by enrolling for ACCA, MICPA, ICAEW or CIMA.
