Hi Noor Sue Wastadiah,
You can view our comprehensive study guide for Medicine by clicking here. It details the entry requirements as well as the institutions in Malaysia offering Medicine as a course.Hope this helps, good luck!
Hi Praveen,
The number of subjects in a medicine course depends on the institution. However, the average is normally 2-3 subjects per semester. You may view the list of subjects that you would likely be studying by clicking here.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Psychology
Hi Nhivetha,
A Medicine course requires you to have prior knowledge of the three core science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. On top of that, you must have studied Mathematics and/or Additional Mathematics as well.
If you did not take these subjects prior to your Psychology course, you will have to retake your SPM with these subjects so that you can proceed to the Medicine pathway.
Pharmacy
Hi Carine,
In simplest terms, pharmacy is a field in which you would be studying to become a pharmacist, and thus will deal more with preparing the medicine for patients as opposed to becoming a doctor.
If you choose to study medicine, however, you will be undergoing the proper study and training to become a doctor. Medical study is typically longer than if you choose to study pharmacy, but you cannot become a doctor by studying pharmacy alone; you will still have to go through medical study.
For more information, you can read more about Pharmacy via this link or read more about Medicine via this link.
Physics
Allied Health Sciences
Hi Nurul Afifah,
If you did not take a Physics subject in SPM, you will have to retake your SPM with the required subjects. Medicine, Pharmacy and Pediatrics (which is a branch of medicine) requires you to have achieved at least 5Bs in SPM in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi Khairunnisa,
Unfortunately, the minimum entry requirements for you to pursue a medical degree (MBBS) in Malaysia are at least 5Bs in your SPM including the subjects Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics). If you have failed your SPM, you will need to retake your SPM with the subjects mentioned above.
On top of that, a medical degree also requires you to score at least a BBB / ABC / AAC in STPM or A-Levels with the subjects Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. Alternatively, you must score a minimum of 3.0 CGPA in your Matriculation or Foundation in Science programme in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics.
Good luck, and please do not hesitate to ask further questions if necessary.
Accounting
Hi NurAdawiyah,
Did you take science subjects in school? Many students who take accounting also take science subjects. If you did, then you will have to take Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and perhaps Physics in A-Levels to proceed to a medical course after that.

Hi Divakaran,
Fret not, because you can still do a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with your Health Science diploma, provided that you get a CGPA of at least 3.50, plus 2Bs in SPM level Chemistry and Biology, as well as 3 credits each in English & Mathematics/Add Maths & 1 other subject at SPM/O-level/equivalent.
We are more than happy to help you with your application for an MBBS degree. If you are interested, AIMST and MAHSA University both offer MBBS. You can apply by filling in the bar on the right, and one of our counselors will get in touch with you.
