Hi Audrey Sara Majanil,
Unfortunately, dentistry is similar to medicine in terms of its minimum entry requirements. It is much stricter and requires a science background, particularly a minimum of 5Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject. While you may pursue a science-based pre-u programme after SPM, you will still need to have achieved the mentioned scores during your SPM.
The option you have if you would still like to pursue dentistry is to retake your SPM with the subjects mentioned above and progress to a Foundation in Science course for a 'fast track' option.
For more information about the education pathway and entry requirements of a Dentistry course, click here.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi Howard,
Thank you for your questions. There are, in fact, many pathways to get into medical courses like MBBS, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Some pathways, like first doing Foundation in Science or Matriculation, before enrolling into the medical degree requires that the student achieves both a CGPA of at least 3.00 in pre-university AND 5Bs in SPM level, including the three science subjects and Math. However, a student can qualify for MBBS/Dentistry courses without using their O levels/SPM as a qualification by either taking STPM or A levels science stream. They would need to achieve at least BBB / ABC / AAC in 3 subjects (Biology & Chemistry & Physics / Math) to be eligible though.
If you're interested, MAHSA University and AIMST both offer great medical degrees. INTEC on the other hand offers both A levels and A levels German. If you are interested to enroll your son into either of theses courses, you can fill in the bar on the right and our counselors will get in touch with you.

Hi Aishu,
Yes, you will need to obtain a foundation or a pre-medical course prior to commencing a degree in Dentistry, as this in accordance with the requirements set by the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC).
Medicine
Hi Nur Sabrina,
Yes, there are degree courses in Medicine/Dentistry that accept diploma holders, but you will need to hold a diploma in a relevant field (eg. health sciences) and have taken some specific subjects to be eligible for the degree course.
If you're interested, MAHSA University and AIMST University both offer great Medicine/Dentistry courses! If you're keen on enrolling, just fill in the bar on the right and one of our counselors will get in touch with you :)

Hello Danusha,
Unfortunately, UNISEL does not offer dentistry or pharmaceutical courses. The closest courses offered that relate to the medical line is medical imaging, medical laboratory technology, and nursing.
However, if your daughter is really interested in either the dentistry or pharmaceutical line, there are universities that offer both these courses and grant 100% scholarship automatically to students that have straight As. One example of this is SEGi University Kota Damansara. They offer a 100% scholarship for students who have achieved 10As for their SPM, but they will also consider straight A students who have fewer than 10As on a case-by-case basis. If your daughter chooses to enroll in SEGi University, she will need to complete her foundation in science first before heading on to complete her degree in either pharmacy or dental surgery.
You can fill in your daughter's details on the top right column here: https://afterschool.my/segi-university-and-colleges-kota-damansara and we will contact her shortly to help with her admission to SEGi and guide her towards a pathway in the medical field.
Looking forward to contacting her soon :)
Hi Syahmirul,
Actually, it would be great if you could get first hand experience and observe their lifestyle as it would give you more exposure for the career that you are about to venture in, but do note that the duration for the Medicine or Dentistry course takes up 4-5 years to complete it, plus housemanship and 1 year of being a medical officer. If you are in no rush then proceeding with your internship is a good idea! :)
