Grading System:

Your grade for each subject corresponds to a Subject Grade Point (SGP). For example, an A would give you a score of 4.00, a B+ would give you a 3.33, and so on. The final SGP is calculated by adding your four best grades, and then finding their average. Say your four best grades were an A-, B, B and B+, your average would then be (3.67+3.00+3.000+3.33)/4, which would equal 3.25.

STPM itself takes 18 months in total, with only ONE intake in May every year. However it should be noted that IF you intend to apply to a public university, you would have to wait another 6 months, putting the grand total at 24 months.
