If you are interested in trying a course in media or communications, there are various suitable courses that you can apply for. The most suitable courses for you may be: communication and media studies, advertising, journalism broadcasting and multimedia. There are plenty of universities that offer these courses, so do have a look at the links provided below.

Hi Nusaibah,
May we know which university you took your Foundation in English in? Normally, if you continue your bachelor's degree in the same university, it would not be a problem. However, switching to a different course in a different university will be difficult, because a Foundation programme usually acts as a preparatory programme for a degree in the same university. Other universities may not recognise a different institution's foundation programme qualifications.

Yes, you may apply for a graphic design course even if you did not take an Art subject in your SPM exams. Do note that you will be required to go through a pre-u programme before you can pursue a bachelor's degree in graphic design (e.g. A-Levels, STPM, Diploma, Foundation etc.). As you did not take an Art subject in SPM, you will very likely be required to submit an art portfolio or sit for an art assessment before pursuing the graphic design programme to determine whether you are suitable to undergo the programme. Thus, it is very important that you begin compiling an art portfolio that includes samples of drawings, sketches, paintings or any other form of artistic work.

Tuition fees may vary depending on the university running the course, but generally the tuition fees for a diploma in New Media Design will range between RM40,000 to RM45,000 for the entire course.

Hello Lau Bin Lu,
The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) does indeed allow non-Muslim students to enroll in their courses. UiTM is the only institute that requires students to be bumiputera, but IIUM accepts students of all backgrounds. You will only need to satisfy the entry requirements that the university has for the specific programme and adhere to their dress codes as this is an Islamic institution. Other than that, you should have no problem in enrolling for the Foundation in Architectural and Environmental Design programme at IIUM.
