COURSE OVERVIEW

The PhD programme in Food Science is designed for qualified individuals who want to gain in-depth research and academic experiences in areas such as food quality and safety, functional food, food biotechnology, food processing and fermentation. The scientific expertise of our faculty coupled with state-of-the-art facilities offer PhD students a conducive research environment to pursue their specialization in food chemistry, food microbiology, food processing, innovation and food product development, nutrition and other food related fields of study.

  • A Master's Degree (MQF, Level 7) in Food Science or related field accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree that are accepted by the HEP Senate.

English Language Requirements

Malaysian Students:

  •  MUET Band 3 or IELTS Band 5.0; OR CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 42 or equivalent.
  •  Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English.
International Students:
  • IELTS Band 5.0; OR CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 42 or equivalent.
  • Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English.
