The Diploma of Early Childhood Education Program is aimed at preparing learners to meet the demands and also challenges of the teaching profession at nursery and preschool levels for both public and private centers. It also seeks to complement the Government's target of ensuring that all teachers in the early childhood education system are bachelor degree (for Ministry Of Education) and at least diploma in the field for the private sectors by the year 2010. The Diploma of Early Childhood Education Program provides an excellent opportunity for non-graduate teachers, school-leavers, and those interested in entering the teaching profession to be better equipped with a more solid command of the professional pedagogical and subject knowledge.

The program

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education courses is structured so as to improve and enhance learners' pedagogical abilities and teaching skills besides providing the necessary subject; a knowledge base, curriculum, pedagogy, and management. The program will enable graduates to master competencies in identifying the teaching and learning approaches for young children, and to be reflectively and professionally engaged in teaching-learning processes and experiences, curriculum planning, aspects of management, and development of the profession. The Early childhood Diploma Program is designed to invite students to develop deeper understanding of local realities, moral and intellectual character, moral and intellectual character.
