What Would Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman Have Studied In University?

Published by Afterschool.my on Jun 06, 2017, 04:37 pm

Superheroes have been with us since the dawn of magazines, first in black and white, then wonderfully colourful strips of comic speckled with every hue of the rainbow. Not satisfied merely saving the day, these caped (and sometimes un-caped) crusaders have been constantly saving us from our common arch-nemesis, boredom, by churning out movies at an exponential rate, capped off with the latest release of Infinity War. That got us thinking, what would the most famous heroes in the world have studied when they attended university? Note: Both the Marvel and DC universes have been included, because we don't discriminate!

Wonder Woman

The Amazonian princess is the latest one to hit the big screens. First making an appearance in Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman has already captured the hearts of a worldwide audience  with a thrilling combination of brains, beauty and brawn. She thrives on protecting all life, which is why the course of law would be perfect for her. While the course is indeed difficult, if Wonder Woman has proven anything, it’s that she’s capable of anything she puts her mind to. So, those pesky law books won’t stand a chance and those long nights burning the midnight oil would be like a walk in the park for her. In an age where snatch thieves are ample in numbers and the rate of crime has gone up, Diana Price would then, not only be able to beat up and capture the conniving baddies, but convict them in court and ensure they are given an apt prison sentence as well. It would be the perfect system, guaranteeing all the criminals she does nab get their comeuppance. Plus, there’s the small matter involving the Lasso of Truth, which she has in her possession, which would ensure she never, ever loses in court. A match made in heaven.

Superman

Yes, the Son of Krypton has powers that are out of this world, literally. But Clark Kent has always been more than just a God-like being among man, constantly putting mankind and its importance above that of his own. What would Superman have studied in university? We think he would put his know-how on flying to good use by signing up for Aeronautics & Astronautics. While Superman himself would do immensely well on topics such as aerodynamics, astronautics and propulsion (Because you know, he can fly), he would stand to learn quite a lot, especially about the way he flies and how it effects economic, legal and environmental issues. Superman would almost certainly ace this course, and upon graduation, be flying faster and more environmentally-friendly than ever before.

Spiderman

Ah, Spiderman - the red and blue superhero that doesn’t have a shield has undergone numerous transformations in recent times. And, while Peter Parker is suited to many courses, none are as appropriate for him as Architecture is. Why? Well, it’s simple really - using his powers, and incorporating them into the course, Spiderman would transcend the entire landscape of the architectural world. The designs that would be possible due to his web and its by-products are limitless. Sure, Spiderman could still provide his web to them to use and join a different course, but who else better knows stuff like the tensile strength of it or if it needs to be replaced every now and then, other than Spidey himself? Couple that with basic knowledge on how to design buildings, and you have another recipe for success. Well, after he passes his exams of course and becomes a Professional Architect. Till then, it would be best to leave Spiderman to scaling buildings, rather than building them.

Batman

Arguably the most popular of all the superheroes across all universes, Batman is undoubtedly the best hero there is - he has cars, money, the looks, just about everything anyone could ever want. Oh, did we also mention a cool batsuit partially made of Kevlar that he flies around in at night fighting crime? One other thing Batman has that very few notice - a void in his heart. With the unfortunate death of his parents very early on, Batman has always been a little distant, with the people around him and himself. This feeling of emptiness can be rectified however, which is why we think Batman should study Early Childhood Education at university. We know what you’re thinking dear reader. Whaaaaaaaaaaa? But hang on for a second - working with children would help Batman fill the void he still feels while simultaneously feeling more fulfilled. It could help him work on his issues that leave a part of him still broken, mending it with the love and care he was deprived of by choosing to ensure no other child under his care suffers the same plight, while receiving a proper education. Can you imagine Batman in his kelvar suit and grizzled voice teaching a class full of students, who idolise him? They would listen to everything he says! On top of that, it would be the perfect cover-up, so that he may continue to trawl the night skies and fight crime. A mild-mannered teacher is miles better than his Billionaire Playboy persona, which, quite honestly, is remarkably obvious (How on earth no one in Gotham has noticed this is beyond us).

The Flash

The fastest man on earth, or Barry Allen as he’s also known, could study just about anything. The speed at which he could read would allow him to graduate with a PhD in a day or two whatever field he chose to pursue. One course though does stand out above all though, and that would be Physics. While it may not be a popular course, the Flash stands to learn a lot from studying one this applied science discipline. One, he would gain a better understanding of the laws of physics, allotting him knowledge to better and faster himself. Second, he too could contribute with his wealth of knowledge in the field, contributing to research studies. And of course, finally and most importantly, he would have probably learnt that travelling back in time would open up a worm hole that would cause carnage to awash over the city and placing everyone he loves in imminent danger. So, you know, he would perhaps, not do it?

Hawkeye

Sure, he doesn’t have powers. But Hawkeye has been a mainstay on the Avengers squad for well over four movies now, even taking a leading role in the Avengers II. Which really begs the question, what would he have studied in university? The answer? Why, accountancy of course. While many may smack their heads and release more audible gasps, the more you think about it, the more sense it makes. Hawkeye is best known for his accuracy, never missing his target no matter what the situation, which is the exact description an accountant would warrant. Hawkeye should have taken accountancy because he would have excelled at it, never once miscalculating and always having his books balanced. On top of that, with the bright future that is staring back at accountants, Hawkeye could have an alternative to his other job, you know, saving the world. It may even pay better.

Captain America

The self-assigned leader of the Avengers, Cap has always preferred taking a back seat while saving the world, comfortably cruising in the shadow of Iron Man. We feel, that Cap’ would have been perfectly suited for the course of Medicine. We know, what may seem like a weird fit initially, gets a little less weird once you consider all the facts. Captain America is patient and always wants to help others, constantly doing the morally right thing, which is what an ideal doctor should be like. That’s only beginning to scratch the surface - Cap’ also had to readjust with the times, and although it was bumpy, eventually blended in with everyone else. A doctor has to be able to adapt constantly and quickly as well, with the latest medical discoveries and advancements coming in thick and fast. Finally, he won’t give up on you till the very end, just like he did with Bucky in Civil War, another trait shared in common with a doctor. All in all, the only downside perhaps is that Cap’ may try to make incisions with his shield, but hey, is that really a downside?
