Since 1969, Taylor’s College has been shaping futures and guiding students to achieve their dreams at some of the world’s top universities.
Since 1969, Taylor’s College has been a launchpad for students with big dreams, guiding them to some of the world’s top universities. Known for its commitment to academic excellence and a holistic approach, Taylor’s creates a supportive environment where students can dream big and achieve even more. With over 50 years of experience, it has built a reputation as one of Malaysia’s top pre-university institutions, offering programmes like Cambridge A Level, the AUSMAT pathway, and ACCA that prepare students not just for exams but for their future aspirations.
The journeys of Rameeya Ganesan and Wardina Wafin binti Mohd Nizam— who are currently at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) respectively—show just what’s possible with the support and guidance of Taylor’s College provides. Let’s dive into how Taylor’s has helped them achieve their dreams.
From Taylor's College to Cambridge
For Rameeya, her time at Taylor’s was the first step on an incredible journey. She took on a challenging mix of A Level subjects—Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics, and Psychology—while living on campus. “Having my own room and a comfortable environment made all the difference,” she shares. Beyond academics, Taylor’s unique peer-to-peer teaching style helped her build friendships and dive deeper into her coursework.
Rameeya’s journey began with ambition and support that was nurtured at Taylor’s College.
Initially, applying to Cambridge wasn’t even on Rameeya’s radar, and she had just hoped to study abroad. However, her psychology lecturer, Ms Sonika, recognised her potential and encouraged her to aim higher. With guidance from Taylor’s University Placement Services (UPS), Rameeya began the rigorous application process. “I was a bit lost at first, but the UPS team guided me through everything, from writing my personal statement to doing mock interviews.”
Her passion for Economics, sparked during her studies, led her to participate in an Economics Case Study competition and work as a peer tutor. These experiences strengthened her understanding of the subject and prepared her well for Cambridge. “It challenged my understanding and allowed me to support my friends academically, which turned out to be incredibly helpful during my interview,” she says.
Embracing New Opportunities at LSE
Wardina’s journey to LSE began with Cambridge A Level at Taylor’s, where she achieved her predicted grades. She chose Taylor’s not only for its strong academic reputation but also for its diverse student body. “Being around students from different cultures helped me prepare for studying in the UK,” she explains.
Balancing her academic workload with the application process wasn’t easy, but Wardina had the essential support of UPS and her lecturers. “The workshops on personal statement writing really helped me build an application that reflected my passion,” she explains. Alongside her studies, she also made time to learn practical skills like budgeting and cooking, which she believes will make her transition to life in the UK easier.
Wardina was also deeply involved in the college’s community service initiatives, where she organised donation drives and volunteered at Zoo Negara. “My greatest takeaway? Definitely the friends I made and the supportive community,” she says. “Taylor’s made it easy to find my people, and we all supported each other to reach our goals.”

How Taylor’s College Shapes Success
Rameeya and Wardina’s stories show how Taylor’s College supports students in ways that go far beyond the classroom. The UPS team guide students through every step of the university application process, offering workshops on personal statements, mock interviews and one-on-one guidance—helping them turn good applications into truly outstanding ones that stand out in highly competitive fields.
The faculty plays a significant role, too, acting as mentors who help students build confidence, see their potential, and push beyond their limits. For them, this kind of personal support made all the difference, showing them that top universities weren’t just a mere dream, they were achievable and within reach.
Taylor’s also encourages students to dive into extracurriculars and develop skills that go beyond academics. Rameeya’s experience with the Economics Case Study competition and peer tutoring helped her grow as a leader, while Wardina’s involvement in the college’s community service initiatives allowed her to give back and build a sense of social responsibility.
Tips from Rameeya and Wardina
Both students offer simple but powerful advice for anyone aiming for top universities: dream big. “Even if it feels out of reach, you never know what’s possible until you try,” Rameeya says. They also emphasise the importance of choosing a college that offers a quality education and a supportive community. “Taylor’s gave us access to experienced teachers, great resources and a community that kept us motivated,” Wardina adds.
For students planning to study abroad, they recommend learning essential life skills like budgeting, cooking, and navigating public transport—practical skills that make life abroad a lot easier.
A Launchpad for Global Success
Rameeya and Wardina’s journeys show just what’s possible when ambition meets opportunity. With the tools, guidance, and community support from Taylor’s College, they’ve turned their dreams into reality. Now, in their respective dream universities, they’re ready to make their mark.
