So many of you have been caught up in the confusion of KADS1M. Many students assume that their cards are ready the moment the checking system says so, only to find out later in despair, that students need to wait for an e-mail from Bank Rakyat as well. To avoid any more confusion, here are the most commonly asked question by students and the answers.
KADS1M DEBIT-i may be claimed at the branch selected during the online application process and students can claim KADS1M DEBIT-i upon receiving a confirmation when checking their status online AND a subsequent email from the Bank.
No, not at this time.
Unfortunately, according to Bank Rakyat, there is no official timeline. When asked, they reiterated that students remain patient and wait to receive confirmation when checking on their status online AND a subsequent email from the Bank.
Bank Rakyat have stated numerous times that they intend to distribute ALL KADS1M Debit-i cards by September 30, 2017.
YES, the Bantuan Pelajar Pendidikan Tinggi (BPPT) will be deposited into your Savings/Simpanan-i account connected to KADS1M DEBIT-i.
YES. The use of KADS1M DEBIT-i is accepted at all traders who accept MasterCard abroad. No additional charges on foreign exchange rates apply.
The validity period of KADS1M DEBIT-i is 3 years. When asked what would happen to students who are enrolled in a 4-year course or above, Bank Rakyat representatives said that they have yet to receive any instructions or guidelines to deal with such a scenario.
Does the annual fee remain at RM 5 for renewal (after expiry of KADS1M DEBIT-i)? For students who have completed their studies, after their KADS1M DEBIT-i expires, the card will be upgraded to the COMBO-i Card. The annual fee to be imposed thereafter will be RM 8.
YES. Students can still apply for KADS1M DEBIT-i if they are still studying past the expiration date of the card.
