A trip to Vietnam for the Supply Chain and Logistics Challenge (SLOG Challenge) 2026 ended on a happy note for two TAR UMT Bachelor in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Hons) students who returned home with two titles.
Working together in their respective teams of four, Yong Sheng Qi and Koo Zhong Qi won the Champion and Third Prize titles respectively after the competition’s final round held on 24 June 2026 at Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Supply Chain and Logistics (SLOG) Challenge 2026 is a competition that provides opportunities for participants to work with students from other institutions to foster international collaboration and cultural exchange in the fields of logistics and supply chain management. Teams were assigned real-world logistics cases that they needed to analyse, strategise, plan, and present their solutions to a judging panel.
For Sheng Qi, the opportunity to collaborate with his peers from other countries was an exciting and challenging experience.
“My teammates were from Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, so we all had very different approaches and understanding about how to solve the task. It taught me the importance of clear communication, especially with others from diverse backgrounds, to work together cohesively. Thanks to that, we managed to come to a unified understanding about the case problem and formulated a solution that all of us were confident in. I believe our cohesive teamwork was instrumental in our success as a team,” said Sheng Qi, a former student of SMK Sri Permata.
Fellow TARCian Zhong Qi, who teamed up with students from Taiwan and Vietnam, believed his TAR UMT study experience prepared him well to take on the challenges during this competition.
“My lecturers, especially Dr Chong Chu Le, ensured that I was well-versed in the theories to strengthen my basic knowledge and provided an environment that encouraged me to solve real industry problems. Those lessons gave me a strong foundation that was instrumental to my performance and contribution to the team doing so well in such a highly competitive international competition,” said the former student of SMK Taman Desa Tebrau.
