Beginning 2018, a brand new, more user-friendly Pengurusan Kemasukan Pelajar (UPU) system will be in effect for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders and those with equivalent qualifications, as confirmed by the Director of Student Enrolment Management Division, Mazula Sabudin in an interview with the New Straits Times (NST).

This new initiative was in part, due to the fact a large number of students continue to garner rejection letters/e-mails from public universities for applying to courses they were not eligible for in the first place, leaving them high and dry, without a course or institution to take them on.
