Sime Darby Scholarship

Sime Darby is a multinational corporation based in Malaysia. Starting out with plantation, the company is now also involved in other key growth sectors, such as property, motors, industrial equipment and energy & utilities. Recently, the company also started spreading its wings to the healthcare business. The company currently has a workforce of over 100,000 employees in 20 countries.

Yayasan Sime Darby

The CSR arm of Sime Darby, this foundation concentrates on five aspects of society – community development, education, recreation, the environment and arts & culture. The foundation serves to provide assistance, be it financial, knowledge or promotion, particularly to the less fortunate part of society. It aims to ensure that the disadvantaged receive opportunities that they may not get otherwise.

Scholarships offered:
Yayasan Sime Darby Excellence Scholarship Programmes

Each year, Sime Darby rewards high achievers by giving them the opportunity to further their studies, either locally or overseas. This gives these students a chance to nurture their talents, and also lets the company have a pick of the cream of the crop to join their organisation someday. Currently, Sime Darby offers two types of undergraduate scholarship programmes:

  1. Undergraduate Scholarship programme (Local)
  2. Undergraduate Scholarship programme (Overseas)
Target Group:

Applicants should be high achievers who are also well-rounded. Sime Darby prioritises students who prioritise academic excellence but are also aware of how important it is to give back to society and participate in extra-curricular activities. These students should also have great leadership qualities.

Who should apply:
  1. For the Local Undergraduate Scholarship Programme:
  • Students who have completed or are in the final semester of their local pre-university/diploma programme (with a CGPA of at least 3.5)
  • Students who have applied to  selected public and private universities in Malaysia
  • First year students currently pursuing local degrees (with a current CGPA of at least 3.5)
  1. For the Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme:
  • Students who have completed or are in the final semester of their pre-university/diploma programme (and fulfils one of these criteria: CGPA of at least 3.5 for STPM, local matriculation and diploma; a minimum of3As for A-Levels; a minimum score of 90.0 for Australian TER SAM/ AUSMAT; a minimum score of 36.0 forthe International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme;  a score of at least 85% for the International Canadian Pre-University Programme)
  • First or second year students currently pursuing their first degree (with a current CGPA of at least 3.5)

  • Business : Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Economics and Finance, Law
  • Engineering and Technology : Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Computer, Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Sciences : Agriculture, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Plantations Technology, Plantation management
  • Allied Health Science : Nursing, Dietetics, Radiation Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

  1. Local Undergraduate Scholarship Programme
  • Full tuition fees
  • Living allowance
  • Book and equipment allowance
  • Computer allowance (one-off)

2.  Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme

  • Full tuition fees
  • Living allowance
  • Computer allowance (one-off)
  • Settling-in allowance (one-off)
  • Clothing allowance (one-off)
  • Student visa and passport
  • Shipping allowance (at end of course)
  • Flight allowance (at the beginning and end of course)
  • Insurance coverage (if applicable)
