Overseas scholarship unaffected - Idris Jusoh

Scholarships for Malaysian students studying abroad will not be affected even if the ringgit falls against the US dollar, promised Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

The government plans to help Malaysian students abroad as soon as possible because the depreciation of the ringgit will not change the status of their sponsorship.

He said the depreciation of the ringgit should be seen from a positive angle in which the situation could attract more foreign students to study in the country.

"In recent years foreign students have been coming in droves to do their studies in Malaysia, evident from the 134,482 foreign students currently studying in the country."
