Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) have the rights to not inform the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) of its decision to discontinue the sponsorship to students who wish to further their studies at the Taylor's University.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris said this is because it is up to the organization to make decisions without referring to the ministry.
The Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri recently announced the decision to terminate MARA sponsorships for new students enrolling at Taylor's University citing "various reasons".
However, Mara-sponsored students already studying in the university can continue their studies until graduation without any problems.
