The Bharath Arts and Cultural Society Malaysia (Bacus) is providing 25 scholarships to talented orphans and underprivileged students to pursue courses in performing arts at the famed Alagappa University in India.
Society president Dr Hariharan Subramaniam said that each scholarship is worth about RM25,000 and would cover the tuition fees for the three-year course in traditional Indian music and dance. The Society awards scholarships in the area of Theatre, Film Studies and Sports besides Fine Arts and Dance in time to come.
Hariharan said upon graduation, the students would be placed in music-related jobs or work with local music academy, Sangeetha Swara Laya, which is the main sponsor of the society.
The society is now on a recruitment drive across the country to find the talents who would be trained at the 10 Sangeetha Swara Laya centres in the various states. For more information, visit www.bacus4u.org
