The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (BYDPA) scholarship is to recognize the extraordinary abilities of a student, as well as to enable students to pursue postgraduate studies in Science and Technology, Economics, Law and Islamic Finance. The advantage of this scholarship is in terms of scholarships offered, eligibility and placement in leading universities.
The number of scholarships provided is twelve scholarships, six for Master's degree and six scholarships for PhDs each year.
Criteria
Recipients of BYDPA who have completed their studies are required to return to Malaysia to serve in the country for a period of not less than five (5) years. To ensure that the conditions are met, selected candidates are required to sign an agreement with the Government. If the selected candidate is composed of students sponsored by PSD at Bachelor level, they are still bound to serve the Government in accordance with a predetermined period under the sponsorship of the undergraduate program. Compensation rate as in force at the present time will be charged if the student violates the terms of the agreement.
