Among the oldest private universities in the country, UNITAR International University is the first virtual university in Southeast Asia and pioneered the use of wide-scale ICT to deliver higher education. While UNITAR International University’s main campus is located in Kelana Jaya, it also has 12 locations throughout Malaysia.
UNITAR offers up to 36 foundation, diploma, bachelor’s degree and postgraduate programmes spanning a wide range of subjects within the field of social science. With approximately 28,000 students successfully graduated from UNITAR, the university aims to harness student talent and develop individuals with industry-ready skills.
Here are five reasons UNITAR should be your university of choice:
Apply for PTPTN loan for your foundation programme
Yes, you read that correctly! Though foundation programmes are generally not eligible for loans by Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN), the corporation does offer loans for foundation students of a select few universities in Malaysia. UNITAR International University is one of these five institutions.
PTPTN loans provided for UNITAR students range from RM3,400 to RM6,800 for foundation and diploma programmes and RM6,800 to RM13,600 for bachelor’s degree programmes.
First virtual university in Southeast Asia
In operation since 1997, UNITAR prides itself as the first virtual university in Southeast Asia and one of the pioneer institutions in Malaysia granted with a distance-learning licence to operate its programmes throughout different regions. Its innovative learning system, UNIEC (UNITAR Education Core), allows for seamless learning at UNITAR.
UNITAR acknowledges that learning does not take place only in the classroom. Therefore, UNIEC provides a learning environment that stretches across time and space. Besides encouraging students to learn through face-to-face (UNIEC Face) and online interaction (UNIEC Virtual), the system also allows students to customise their learning environment (UNIEC Profiling).
UNITAR has formed partnerships with key industries
UNITAR partners with esteemed organisations such as Karangkraf, Maxis, Kidzania, Jobstreet.com, Oxford Business Group and many more. It continues to build strong and strategic partnerships with key market leaders, locally and internationally, to enhance students' employability, experience and ambitions.
Up to RM2,000 rebate for new intakes
UNITAR offers rebates on tuition for new students. For a limited time only, you can get up to RM2,000 rebate for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes or RM1,000 rebate for foundation and diploma programmes.
