Kanagawa University (KU) of Japan has expressed interest to partner with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in the area of student mobility. A signing of a letter of intent (LoI) was made between representatives of UUM and KU.
KU, a private university located near Yokohama, Japan, started as Yokohoma Academy in 1928. It achieved university status in 1949 and offers programmes in law, economics, international business administration and human sciences.
According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Rosna Awang Hashim, this collaboration could start with a one-week or one-semester student mobility programme and will include academic staff from KU. She added that UUM's use of the English language as medium of instruction was a plus factor that made KU consider them as an academic partner.
