The Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has announced plans to build a specialist training hospital near its campus in Kampar, Perak. The training hospital will not only benefit UTAR's final-year medical students but also residents of the northern region.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan said the university was in the midst of discussions with the Government on the RM300 mil project and if all goes well, they will proceed to raise funds for the project and commence construction this year itself.
Earlier this year, UTAR council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik announced that the proposed 300-bed hospital would offer treatment using traditional Chinese medicine as well as Western or conventional medicine.
The hospital is to be named after the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, who donated the land for the hospital.
