The UTP Malay Debate Team argued in favour of the motion while their Singapore counterpart presented the opposing view.
“I am very proud of what our team accomplished. In the last ten years, we’ve started from a humble beginning and now we’re a very active club. Our success has always been underpinned by our dedicated team of students, coaches and advisors, and the strong support and encouragement from the UTP Students Affair Division,” said Dr Mohd Faris Khamidi, Chief Advisor of the UTP Malay Debate Team, in a follow-up phone interview with Afterschool.my.
This is the second time UTP Malay Debate Team won the title. Last year, the team not only emerged as the champion but also won the Best Speaker Award. The UTP Debate Team was established in 2003 and annually participates a series of national and international competitions.
