Universiti Malaysia Sabah to create ties with University of the Philippines

  • A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and University of the Philippines (UP) is on the works.

UMS vice chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr Harun Abdullah expressed his interest to tie up with UP in the fields of music, culture and arts as well as social sciences and humanities during his welcoming speech at the UP Concert Chorus held at UMS Recital Hall. He added that academic linkages enhance the university's academic mission and vision.

“UMS is actively involved and committed towards quality enhancement in our delivery system particularly in the academic field. The university has developed academic collaborations and understandings with universities at both national and international levels, thus placing UMS in the eyes of the world,” he said.

University of the Philippines is among the top 50 universities in the world when it comes to teaching English language and literature, based from the ratings firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). It also placed within the 101-150 bracket in Geography.  In 2011, UP was ranked 62nd in the 2011 QS Asian University Rankings.
