Universiti Malaya manages its own intake

Direct admission to University of Malaya (UM) only applies for Undergraduate studies, while Foundation studies in UM is still handled by UPU.

Undergraduate applicants wanting to pursue their bachelor's degree at University of Malaya may send their applications online via direct admission without having to go through UPU.

International and Academics deputy vice-chancellor Professor Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud stated that UM's direct admission only involves undergraduate bachelor programmes for candidates possessing STPM / Matriculation / Foundation / Diploma qualifications.

Applicants can directly apply to the university admission portal https://myum-id.um.edu.my/ by following five simple steps.

1. An applicant registers for an account.
2. The applicant needs to activate his/her registration.
3. Once the registration is active, he/she needs to enter the required details into the system.
4. Once all the required details are filled in, the applicant must select up to 4 different programmes.
5. The applicant needs to verify and submit their completed application online.

"Unlike UPU, our admission portal is free of charge and will not require any BSN PIN or Unique ID," said Prof Awang Bulgiba.
