Universiti Malaya in the top 400-500 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Universiti Malaysia (UM) made it in the top 401-500 in this year's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). More than 1,000 universities, those with papers and highly-cited researchers, were ranked and the best 500 were published on the web.

The universities were then ranked according to these ranking criteria: quality of education (10%), quality of faculty (40%), research output (40%), and per capita performance (10%). UM's score for its research output is 37.4
