UMS and University of Kochi sign deal for student exchange

  • University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the University of Kochi from Japan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore potential cooperation, especially in areas of food service, nutrition and exchange of students.

In welcoming the initiative, UMS Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr Mohd Harun Abdullah said the MoU will help stregthen and form a mutually beneficial and strategic future partnership between the two universities.

"This MoU would enable student internship or student industrial training through student exchange between UMS and the University of Kochi," he said. Furthermore, the exchange would promote a better understanding between students from Malaysia and Japan.

"UMS students are given industrial practical training attachment as it is UMS' mission to produce graduates who meet the demands of the job market," he added in his speech that was read by UMS Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Madya Datuk Dr Kassim Md Mansur.
