Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has been the only private Malaysian university accepted as a member of the research consortium NanoMalaysia Institute for Innovative Technology (NanoMITe), an international collaboration that was launched today.
NanoMITe is the brainchild of the Malaysian Ministry of Education in 2013 and the founding of and official launch of the institute marks the global collaboration of researchers and scientists in the world of nanotechnology.
UTP Centre of Innovative Nanostructure and Nanodevices (COINN) is one of the research consortium under NanoMalaysia Institute for Innovative Technology.
COINN has begun construction for the third generation solar technology in the form of solar dye on a rigid substrate.
The next step will be the large-scale applications research where flexibility can be beneficial, as it allows mounting on curved surfaces of buildings that can provide a wide surface area for solar energy generation.
