Brickfields Asia College (BAC) is known for its amazing twinning programmes. With more than 20 prestigious partner universities, there is no wonder BAC is the fastest and smartest way to over 70 UK law and business degrees.

On the 5th of February 2015, BAC has yet again broadened its horizon by signing the memorandum of agreement with the University of Essex.

University of Essex pride themselves on being a research based university where students are able to work closely and/or directly with lecturers and professors. With a reputation of being the world leader in social science research, the partnership is a great milestone for BAC as it gives a wider range of excellent institutions for students to choose from.

The event started with a short introduction on the fundamentals of the partnership and later on opened the floor for questions. A few key points were highlighted during this session.

  • The twinning programme between BAC and University of Essex commences on September 2015
  • The courses offered pertains the full range of law specialisations (Law of Contract/Criminal Law/ Public Law/Human Rights/Company Law/French Law/Family Law/Animal Welfare and Wildlife Law/Medicine and the Law)

The day transitioned to the main event, which was the signing ceremony, continued with the question and answer session. When asked about how University of Essex is different from the other partner universities that BAC offers, Vice Chancellor Professor Anthony Forster stated that:

  • University of Essex is a research-based university where students are able to work closely and/or directly with professors.
  • University of Essex also prides themselves in being one of the leading universities in Social Science base on the latest QS world university rankings
  • University of Essex is very sensitive to understanding culture and has an active student society therefore students welfare service is a top priority, and if necessary, English language support is provided for international students.
  • Every week, University of Essex has a law clinic where residents are able to approach students for free consultations.

Representatives of both institutions stated that they are excited for this collaboration and that this is a start to a very strong relationship. Both parties believe that this programme helps raise the profile of University of Essex in the Malaysian market. They also share common values and target at least 20 students on the first year.
