Social science university to be ready by 2020

- Plans are underway to set up a research university aimed at developing knowledge and education in social science by 2020.
- The social science university will be selected from among 15 out of 20 public universities (IPTAs).
- Aside from the 15 IPTAs, the country has five public institutions focusing on science and technology.
- Location of this new university is still under discussion.
- The above efforts are in accordance to the second phase of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) 2011-2015 which was launched on the 8th of June, 2011.
- PSPTN was launched in 2007 to enhance the growth of higher education in Malaysia that can lead the country to become a developed nation by 2020.
