The Education Ministry does not promise placement for graduates in Bachelor of Teaching from public higher institutions of learning (IPTA), said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kian Ching. Most of the graduates are neither sponsored by, or had ties with the ministry.
She added that placement for graduates is based on vacancies in existing posts. "When there is supply, placements are made, according to job vacancies and optional needs."
Last year, appointment and placement of graduates of IPTA and Teacher Training Institute (IPG) was no longer automatic. Graduates of Bachelor of Teaching and were certified of the IPTA/IPG senate should apply at www.jobsmalaysia.com for an interview by the Education Service Commission (SPP). Only those who passed the interviewed will be placed in schools. New teachers will be offered Grade DG41 post of Graduate Education Service Officer.
