Published by Afterschool.my on Jan 04, 2018, 09:13 am

While much of the focus on university rankings this year was reserved for SETARA, who released their ratings two months prior to the turn of the year, the MyQuest 2016/17 ratings were announced recently by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in December, and saw 15 private colleges achieve the highly coveted 6-star rating, up from 9 from the previous iteration (2014/2015).

The improvement versus MyQuest 2014/15 wasn’t limited to the highest rung, as 63 colleges received a highly respectable 5-stars (Excellent) compared to 52, and a further 61 received 4-stars(Very Good) versus 46. The 15 colleges that received 6-stars, classified as outstanding, are:

1. SEGi Subang Jaya

MyQuest, or the Malaysian Quality Education System, was developed by the MOHE, aimed at assessing the quality of private colleges in Malaysia. The biannual rating and its findings are generated via 3 different reports:a) College-based evaluation reportb) Cluster-based evaluation reportc) International student evaluation report.

What are MyQuest ratings based on, you ask? It is based on five different criteria, namely, Quality Management System (30%), Resources (30%), Graduate Recognition (20%), Students (10%), Programme Recognition (10%). All these five were chosen with one goal in mind: to assist students in choosing the right private college. For the full list of universities that made the list, please click here.
