Last week, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Sunway University, Asia Pacific University, and Multimedia University were present during the two-day Education Malaysian Open Day to recruit more Qatari students. Representatives of these institutions have also visited various schools in Qatar to present their programmes.

According to ambassador Ahmad Jazri Mohamed Johar, Qatari students can expect Malaysia to offer quality education and a multinational and multi-racial Islamic environment.  He was also quoted by the Gulf Times that Qatari students won't have problems with food, accommodation and many other things.

Besides emerging as one of the world's leading Muslim-friendly holiday destination, Johar noted that Malaysia also ranked 11th as the most preferred study destination.

In 2013, 7,624 tourists from Qatar visited Malaysia. Engineering, Business and Law are among the courses preferred by Qatari students.

Malaysian universities and international university branch campuses offer more than 3,000 programmes and specialisations such as IT, engineering and medicine. This included prestigious universities from the UK, the US, Australia, and India.
