Malaysian universities to aim for higher global ranking

The Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education is dedicated to improving the position of the country's higher education ranking to 25th in the world by next year.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Idris said Malaysia was ranked 27th among 50 countries as compared to 28th place last year.

"We need to work harder to achieve this goal which I am sure is due to an increase in the quality of research undertaken in our universities," he said.

According to him, the achievement of the country's public universities has also improved in various fields with all five state research universities listed in the top 100 in the World University Rankings according to Subject in 2015.

"In 2014, four of our scientists have been recognized to be among the World's Most Influential Scientific Minds and their researches have often been referred to on the world stage," he said.
