Malaysian Universities in the Top 100 Worldwide by 2020

Malaysian higher education authorities are determined to have 2 of Malaysia's public universities in the top 100 rank worldwide by the year 2020.

The Malaysian higher education blue print (2015-2025) is an initiative taken by the ministry of higher education where the necessary funding and expertise are allocated to help support the universities in this endeavour.

There are 5 contenders currently working towards achieving this prestigious target and according to QS World University Ranking, these universities are getting closer to achieve and  climb higher on the ranking ladder:

1. Universiti Malaya (UM) - Current QS global ranking (146)
2. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) - Current global ranking (289)
3. Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) - Current QS global ranking (303)
4. University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) - Current QS global ranking (312)
5. University Putra Malaysia (UPM) - Current QS global ranking (331)

It seems remarkable that UM has taking over globally recognised names like University of Liverpool (UK), the University of Waterloo (Canada), and the University of Reading (UK).
