In response to Education Ministry's decision to scrap SPM trial results as a basis for entry in pre-university programmes, the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges (MAPCU) has appealed for the decision to be reviewed.

review

The group has presented the issues and implications to the Education Ministry officials. Among the implications, the group cited these:

  • Those students planning to study in Australia and New Zealand might lose a year because of the later start of their matriculation or foundation courses
  • Delay in pre-university studies will also mean delaying their bachelor degree courses
  • Because students will be held back for a few months, they might end up unproductive or idle away their time

Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanthan has confirmed that they have received MAPCU's proposal on the issue.
