UPU application for public universities can be complicated but it is possible to get the university you want, provided you make the necessary preparations. Graduates from last year used a programme review system called iMASCU (Intelligence Management and Admission System Checking).

However, this year, the Ministry of Higher Education together with UPU has launched another system called Semak Syarat.

Provided by UPU for SPM, STPM and matriculation students, the site helps check your eligibility for various programmes (foundation, diploma and degree).

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use this system:

1. Go to the Semak Syarat website. On the home page, the system will ask for your personal details: MyKad number, name, mobile phone number and email, as well as your category (SPM or STPM/matriculation leaver). You can also check your results anonymously without keying in your personal information for now.

3.  If you're an SPM leaver, the system will ask you to choose the papers you took and the corresponding grades (see photo below).  Trial results can also be used. Click on the "Semak" button to proceed.

4. If you're an STPM leaver, you'll be asked to put in the subjects you took and the corresponding grades. The system will also ask for your SPM results and MUET band. Click on the "Semak" button to proceed.

5. After hitting the "Semak" button, a verification pop-up message will appear. Make sure to enable pop-up in your browser's settings. Click on the check box saying "Saya SETUJU dengan terma dan syarat di atas" to confirm your agreement on using the site (notice the red arrow in image below) and click "Teruskan" to continue:

6. You will be able to view results after step 5. The numbers displayed have different meanings according to where you see them.

The number in green box after "Keputusan" = Total of courses you are eligible for.

The numbers in blue circle after name of institution = Total of courses you are eligible for in said university.

A zero in grey box after name of institution means that you do not qualify for any of the programmes in that particular university.

7. Clicking on the name of the institution/university will list out the programmes you are eligible for. Do take note of the name of the courses and it's corresponding code if you wish to make changes to your UPU application.

8. If you wish to revise your data input, click on the "Semula" button. To print, email and download your results in PDF form, click on the "Cetak & Lain" button.

The steps are similar for students applying for UiTM here. However, the results will be in PDF form where there will be a green check for courses you are eligible for and a red cross mark for programmes you should not apply for. More information on UiTM enrollment here.
