Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is among Malaysia’s premium A-level college specialising in university preparation via Cambridge International Examinations, and KYUEM is the equivalent of a British 6th Form college. KYUEM is an entirely residential, co-educational institution. Situated in a pristine, quiet environment, yet only 70 km from KL, the beautiful campus offers everything that a motivated and intelligent young person needs in order to develop intellectually, socially and independently. We pride ourselves in providing the ideal preparation and training necessary for entry into any of the world’s top universities.
There are many excellent reasons for choosing to send your sons and daughters to KYUEM.
Here are just five of them:
A tranquil and focussed learning environment
Villas, chalets or apartments with private bedrooms are made available for student accommodation at KYUEM.
The 50-acre KYUEM campus in Lembah Beringin is 100% residential with superb facilities. There are no distractions here: the emphasis is on quality learning. Every student has a private bedroom in a variety of accommodation types, and the classrooms and labs are very well equipped. Students are provided with three meals a day in the Dining Hall, while a separate cafeteria offers alternative dining for both students and staff. We have 24/7 security guard patrols and the entire campus is covered by a network of CCTV cameras. There is a well-equipped sickbay on site, together with outstanding sport and leisure facilities.
Excellent academic achievement
Last year’s results set a new record! The July 2015 and January 2016 cohorts of KYUEM students have again set another new record of Cambridge A-level success. KYUEM had two students who enrolled into Oxford University and eight to Cambridge University last year.
The following outstanding results bear witness to the students’ achievements:
Qualified, experienced and dedicated staff
The teachers are all UK A-level specialists. They are highly qualified and the vast majority live on campus. All students are known as individuals: practicing learner-centred, holistic education at all times. As a specialist institution, they only offer Cambridge AS and A-level examinations. All students enter the college after completion of SPM or IGCSE examinations. KYUEM is at the next stage of students’ educational journey, preparing them for university entrance.
A wealth of extracurricular activities
In addition to an Olympic-size swimming pool, indoor and outdoor courts and a magnificent games field, KYUEM offers cultural and leisure pursuits via a huge range of clubs and societies. These include Cooking club, Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Malay Cultural club, MUSCOM, Christian Fellowship and an assortment of subject-based societies for arts and sciences. Every year, KYUEM looks forward to college events such as the Bangsawan competition, Cultural Performance Night, Diwali Night, Chinese New Year Dinner and many others, all of which are organised and performed by students acting independently. This is character-building which requires time management skills as they juggle their academic work requirements with the fun stuff in the evenings.
You are left alone, but you will never be lonely!
All KYUEM students are monitored by a personal tutor whom they see at least once a week. They also belong to one of four houses, each with a dedicated House Parent. All aspects of student life outside of class is looked after by the Student Services Department, one of whose members is also a fully qualified counsellor. They take the physical and emotional well-being of students as seriously as their academic progress.
The KYUEM Open Day will be held on 13th and 27th April between 9.15am and 1pm at its campus in Lembah Beringin. For more information, kindly reach at 603-6460 1234 or visit www.kyuem.edu.my
