Crimea State Medical University medical programme removed

• The medical study programme offered by Crimea State Medical University (CSMU), Uktraine has been immediately removed from the second schedule of the 1971 Medical Act.

The decision was based on several weaknesses found in CSMU during a monthly meeting of the MPM Medical Studies Recognition Technical Committee. CSMU received recognition to offer the programme on August 2001 but since then many complaints had been received with regard to the institution and the performance of its graduates.

Graduates of CSMU who have completed their studies, however, can sit for the qualifying test and must pass to register with the Malaysian Medical Council (MPM) as a doctor.
