Construction Xiamen University's new campus in Malaysia has begun last week. Located in a 150-acre site at Salak Tinggi, the new campus will be covering 470,000 square metres.
Operational by September 2015, the university will start accepting about 500 students during the first phase of its completion. It will also offer majors including Chinese language and culture, oceanic and environmental studies, business and computer science.
More auditoriums, student centres, gymnasiums and student apartments will be built in the second phase of construction, and more majors will be added.
Once fully completed, the branch campus is expected to take in 10,000 students of which Malaysians, Chinese and Asean/Non-Asean members will represent one-third each of the enrolment population.
