The Higher Education Ministry accords university status to the International College of Automotive Malaysia (ICAM).
ICAM, a member of the DRB-HICOM Group, will now be known as DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia.
With this upgrade, the university will have its own bachelor and master's degrees and doctoral programmes that focuses on the automotive industry. This will include mechanical, business and management.
DRB-Hicom Berhad group managing director Brig-Gen (K) Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil attributed the new status to their university's holistic training, which prepares students practically as apprentices.
He added, “This combination of theory and practice gives our students a head start in their careers as they would have accumulated the required technical knowledge together with hands-on experience in their jobs."
DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia is located in Pekan, alongside DRB-Hicom’s regional automotive hub, Malaysia's largest integrated automotive assembly complex.
