Staff and lecturers at the Albukhary International University (AiU) is now preparing for a possible closure this June. AiU is known to provide free education to local and foreign students especially those from poor, disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds. Currently, its student population is 600.
In a phone interview with the university registrar, Nor Pisah Matisa, the university is in the midst of reviews and negotiations with other institutions of higher learning to ensure that students will continue their studies. Moreover, its scholars will continue to receive support up until their first year in a degree/diploma programme.
The university registrar said that they will issue an official statement on a later date.
