A kingly visit to Heriot-Watt University Malaysia

The Baroness Brown of Cambridge pays a visit to the Malaysian campus.

Julia King (DBE), the Baroness Brown of Cambridge visited Heriot-Watt University Malaysia on 27 May 2016 to speak to students on the University’s Go Global programme, founded by King.

Five students who attended the visit, two from the Edinburgh Campus and three from the Malaysia Campus who will be transferring to the UK soon. Also present was Sarah Tate from Education is Great under the British High Commission KL and Fiona Louis, Assistant Trade Manager at UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

The event was hosted by Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s Provost and CEO, Prof. Robert Craik and Chief Operating Officer, Janice Yew together with other departmental heads.

Over the hour-long session, the Baroness shared her experience and gave advice while listening to the feedback from the UK students who have been in Malaysia for the past year.

The UK campus students have said that they are glad that the University has developed the Go Global programme that has enabled them to transfer to Malaysia without much interruption to their studies.

The students have all been invited by the British High Commission to attend UCAS fairs in the UK as Malaysian ambassadors, to encourage more Europeans to transfer to Malaysia.
