  • With 53 new programmes established, more students will enrol for university in 2011.
  • As such, 41,267 places will be offered by 20 public universities, a 1.9% hike from last year's intake.
  • 11 of the new programmes were technology-based and will be offered by Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Universiti Teknikal Melaka, Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn.
  • A total of 64,703 applicants applied for the upcoming September intake. 82,2% (52,216 applicants) of them met the minimum requirements of obtaining a CGPA of 2.0 and above.
  • From the 3rd to the 10th of September, 2011, there will be a staggered intake at public universities in view of the new academic session's proximity to the Hari Raya break.
  • Earlier in 2011, it was decided that the starting date of university would be pushed back in light of Ramadhan (starting August 1, 2011) as it would be hard to conduct orientation activities.
