472,541 to take SPM starting Monday

A total of 472,541 candidates will sit the written Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination at 3,590 centres nationwide beginning Monday until 6 December.
A statement issued by the Malaysian Examination Board (MEB) of the Education Ministry here yesterday stated that 415,530 of the candidates were from government schools.
The others comprise 11,309 candidates from private schools, 28,148 candidates from public religious secondary schools and the remaining 1,900 are private candidates, it said.
MEB has also appointed 30,239 invigilators to ensure the SPM examination goes smoothly.
Candidates are advised to refer to their examination time-table and to arrive early at the examination centres to avoid any inconveniences, as well as to bring along their identity cards to the examination hall.
They are also advised to keep abreast of the latest development through the media for any change in the examination time-table or examination centres, in case of floods.
It said all state education directors had been instructed to provide alternative venues to be used as examination centres should floods occur.
